Racetronix introduces its new E85-compatible billet aluminum filter assemblies.

FEATURES:

  • ORB ports for full flow and reliable seal
  • 10-micron SS magnetic filter elements
  • E85 compatible
  • Flow direction indicator
  • Low restriction / high-flow capability
  • Black amodized aluminum

Racetronix filter assemblies are an affordable, reliable and visually attractive way to protect your fuel system components from contaminants and potential engine damage. Unlike many aftermarket fuel filters which only offer 30, 60 or 100-micron filtering, this Racetronix unit filters particles down to 10-microns. This specification is comparable to factory filters which are designed to properly protect fuel injectors, check-valves, jet-pumps and other sensitive components found in late-model fuel injection systems. A magnetic pick-up is integrated into the filter to trap small metallic particles for added protection. ORB adapter fittings, mounting brackets and replacement elements are available. Optional 30, 60 and 100-micron SS magnetic filter elements are available as pre-filters to protect fuel pumps from fuel tank contaminants.

Racetronix listens and delivers… Many customers have noted that there is a wide variation in quality and fitment when it comes to QD fuel adapters. The first problem is that the mating female QD ends are too small to properly fit current-production GM fuel modules. A second problem is that the male QD ends are too short which does not allow for most common release tools to fit between the adapter and the factory female mate. A third problem is that other manufacturers do not offer every combination of QD to ‘AN’ size they may wish to use. Racetronix has addressed all these issues and more with our new quality line of QDA adapters at a price which is sure to make you smile.

PLASTIC FUEL LINES AND STATIC ELECTRICITY

We all agree that fuel and static electricity can be pretty scary. Static electricity is a kind of electric charge that stays in one place- it is static after all. It is the opposite of current electricity which moves from one place to another along a defined path in a circuit.

Static generally builds up when insulators or insulated conductors are rubbed. In order to get rid of static electricity, we have to turn it into current electricity by creating a circuit. That’s what happens during a lightning strike: so much electric charge builds up in a cloud that the air between the cloud and the ground no longer acts as an insulator. And while anyone playing the best round of golf in their life probably won’t admit this, lightning can be pretty scary. So can static discharges in automotive applications. A spark near something explosive and you have a fireball on your hands. We all know the damaging and costly effects of handling delicate electronics after walking through carpet. This is where anti-static products such as conductive hose are required as explained below.

There are two ways we can prevent static build up in a hose: by physical methods or by chemical means. For hoses, this can mean a highly conductive wire is run through them, or, more commonly, through the addition of additives to the tube liner that helps conduct and dissipate static charge. The latter is the approach Racetronix takes with its TFT1170-series Teflon™ hose.

It is important to know why static is particularly problematic with plastics such as Teflon. The conductivity of Teflon is exponentially lower than silicone and even rubber and this is why we don’t see the same anti-static emphasis on silicone and rubber hoses. The antistatic hose offered by Racetronix is essential in applications where media passing through the hose has a low conductance.  Especially problematic are fuels, solvents and Freon. It’s important to note that anti-static liners not only prevent things from going “BOOM!”, but also help extend the life of a hose. In applications using fluids with low conductivity and high velocity, a static charge is quickly build up in a non-conductive hose. This charge then tries to “move” to ground by arcing from the inside liner out to the wire braid. This leads to tiny pinholes in general purpose Teflon hose liners. Late-model factory fuel systems use a combination of conductive plastics and grounding wires in the tank and pump modules to dissipate static electricity. Automotive performance applications can greatly benefit from the use of conductive anti-static liners. The marginally higher hose cost is quickly offset by longer life and improved safety.

In conclusion, when choosing a hose for a new application it is important to consider not only the flow and chemical compatibility of potential hoses, but also the electrical properties. With high flow, low conductivity fluids, please consider Racetronix TFT1170-series conductive lined Teflon braided hoses.

ITWH-029 – Delphi modules up to 2003

ITWH-028 for Delphi modules 2004 and up

Most Delphi fuel modules 2003 and older use their MP150-type bulkhead connector shown below. These connectors are prone to failure hence Delphi’s change to their newer MP280-type connectors. The MP280-type connectors provide double the power handling capability when used in combination with one of our fuel pump upgrade harnesses.

NOTES:

  1. If the fuel module has been serviced/replaced, the connector type may have already been spliced/changed to the MP280-type. If so, the RCS-028 bulkhead connector would not be required since the new fuel module would come with it. The MP150-type input connector on the FPWH-017 will not be compatible with the new connector splice so our FPAH-001 would have to be used to adapt the input connector.
  2. Purchase of the bulkhead connector is typically not required because it is native to factory module.
  3. Not all pumps listed are compatible with the factory venturi/jet pump systems built into the factory modules. Racetronix does not provide technical support for DIY modification of the factory modules.
  4. Tall SUV modules may require the 12″ ITWH-024. Contact Racetronix with your VIN# for confirmation.
  5. Non-E85 versions of AEM, Stealth 340 and other brands of pumps use the standard Walbro-style connector (RCS-001). New E85 versions of these pumps have power leads and an in-line / external Delphi MP280-series connector the same as the Walbro F90000267 and F90000274 pumps. Check your pump’s connector to make sure you have chosen the correct in-tank harness (ITWH) for your application.
  6. If your vehicle has had the factory fuel module changed/serviced, the new replacement fuel modules have the Delphi MP280 RCS-028 connector on top. The factory harness would be cut/spliced with the mating connector for the RCS-028. If this has been done you will require our FPAH-001 harness to adapt it back to the Delphi MP150 connector so that it may plug into the input connector on our new FPWH-017 harness.
  7. C5 Corvettes manufactured 2003 1/2 and later with VIN # 114931 (last six digits) and up as well as all C6 Covettes through 2013 excluding the ZR1. The F90000274 E85 pump is recommeneded over the F90000267 because of its higher pressure handling capability. Use of these pumps will disable module’s jet pump which requires other considerations. Corvettes with the Z06 TU476 module will not benefit from a 340LPH aftermarket pump upgrade.
  8. ITWH-033 is for aftermarket pumps equipped with the standard Walbro GSS-style connectors.
